Gratitude for Cultural Burning Ceremony by Dana Lepofsky

Really, there are no words for the gratitude and pride I feel for my community. Thank you to so many for making plates, contributing baskets and their beautiful contents from our bounty, for donating foods and items for the ancestors, for driving people around, for sharing your words and songs at the feast, for creating a dazzling meal, and for just showing up. I estimate there were something like 140 people at Boot Point.

The weather was perfect, the setting was spectacular, and the energy was powerful.

Folks from Qualicum and K’omoks Nation feel very honored and welcomed.  The cultural workers are sending notes saying how much they are daily appreciating the beautiful gift baskets.  Our friends from Tla’amin send deep regrets and say they look forward to our next gathering.
